Fond memories of
This page is dedicated to the memory of  Yogi, an appendix gelding with the registered name Truxton Easy. Harold bought him as a 3 year old from a Quarterhorse race barn in Oklahoma. His sire was Easy Request by Easy Jet. On his bottom side on his papers are Bold Ruler and Parkers Trouble. Yogi was always a large horse and gentle from the start. His previous owners named him Yogi, supposedly because he reminded them of yogurt! (Maybe he was smooth???)  Harold began to use him as a ranch horse. At that time we were located in Pawhuska, Oklahoma at the Chapman-Barnard Ranch. (72,000 acres!) The above photo is our oldest daughter Heather as a toddler on board Yogi, sometime around l984.
This is me on Yogi about l984. I started him on barrels and I thought we were hot stuff. We went to our first Martha Josey Barrel Clinic and had a blast. Yogi just went with the program no matter what we did. He was sure and steady and didn't get overly excited about anything.
This is the Bizarre Barrel Race in Ok. It was run in a wide open pasture and took nearly a minute to complete. The third barrel was located at the bottom of the hill on a pond dam. Here we are rounding the third barrel and getting ready to run uphill to the finish. We placed 6th place that year, sometime around l985.
Harold was a coon hunter from way back in his Missouri days. Here is Yogi standing patiently with the fruit of one nights hunt on the Chapman-Barnard. Coon hunting has since become a no-no, mainly because we later raised an orphan racoon for a pet.
Here is the family in front of the Headquarters and Main House of the Chapman-Barnard Ranch l985.
This was taken after we had moved to Texas in 1986. We brought some horses to a Celebrity Horse demonstration in Fort Worth at the Will Rogers Colliseum. Heather and I were keeping Yogi company until his turn with the celebrities. A team with actor Ben Johnson heading, Yogi helping on the heels won first in the team roping.
This is Harold riding Yogi and leading our youngest daughter Lindsey in the Kearns Ranch Rodeo Parade.  Heather had now graduated to her new paint pony Tiger Lily. This was taken sometime around 1991.

There is no way to describe this but BLACKMAIL MATERIAL. Taken at Kearns Ranch Rodeo at siesta time, Harold and Yogi getting ready for some quiet time on a hot afternoon. See, Yogi is so laid back he doesn't even spook at Harold's wild jams!
Another parade picture, this time in our hometown of Van Alstyne, Texas. Lindsey is much older here, Yogi was her horse for many years. Harold is riding a stud we used to own, Ima Sleeper.
Lindsey making barrel and pole runs in our arena at an annual playday. Honest Yogi just doing his thing......
Many others, from small children to adults, have learned to ride starting with Yogi. He was everyone's favorite, and the general feeling among kids-"He was the best horse in the world!"  If you have ever been lucky enough to ride Yogi, or have any other thoughts of him you would like to share, please feel free to leave a message in the Guest Book. Great horses don't come around every day, and we feel blessed to have had Yogi as part of our family......
